Masterful Mindsets ~ Clarity and Focus
“When life gets blurry, adjust your focus.” ~ unknown
Has life become a blur? Is your vision for your desired future a struggle to see? Do you have a difficult time staying focused on taking decisive actions toward achieving your goals? Are you ready to admit that you might need some help getting clarity about the life you truly want to create and refocusing your efforts to get there?
I don’t like to admit that I need “readers” to see most text these days. It’s especially necessary to have them on after I’ve been staring ahead at a distance for too long or looking at my computer screen for extended periods. Or when my eyes are tired. Or the room lighting is dim. Or the font is too small. Or my arm isn’t long enough. Or… well, alright – I admit it! I pretty much need reading glasses all the time these days!
The silly thing is, when I finally decide to quit fighting myself (and my ego) and just put the f’ing glasses on… it’s always such a huge relief. Everything comes into focus and becomes easy to see. At that point, I inevitably catch myself saying, “Ah, that’s better.” And I am reminded once again that I should have just put them on in the first place, instead of wasting so much time and energy struggling.
My most recent “readers” denial got me to thinking about the next success strategy I wanted to share with you – which is about clarity and focus. It can be hard to admit when you struggle with clarity and focus in your life. However, if you want to be highly productive each day and reach your goals so you can inevitably create the life you desire, you’ve got to be very clear on what you want and focus intently each day on the action steps required to get it.
Interestingly enough, many people struggle with clarity and focus. To have clarity about what you really want in life can be scary. After all, once you get completely clear then you either need to do something about it or live miserably with the regret of not going after what you really want. And if you do go after it… Yikes! You could fail. But, then again, you could also succeed… And you will most certainly succeed much easier if you have complete clarity about what you want.
Then there’s focus. Once you are clear about what you want, you must commit to focusing on those goals each and every day. Working to take action one step at a time to bring you closer and closer to achieving your goals. But if you aren’t able to keep focused on the tasks at hand every day, then you can find yourself not only distracted by just about anything (emails, texts, social media, co-workers, children, anything!) but also way off track.
But here’s the thing, having clarity and focus doesn’t have to be a struggle. I get it; your ego may not want you to admit that you need a little help. However, when you allow yourself to ask for help – to get the tools and support you need to refocus and clearly see where you want to go next in your life, it can come to you much more quickly and easily then you can even imagine.
My challenge to you is to pay attention to how often you use excuses for why you don’t have clarity and focus. If you’re like most people, it’s highly likely that you’ve let the vision of your hopes and dreams become blurred by your self-limiting beliefs and fears for far too long. No more denial about being too busy or too tired. If the light has dimmed on your dreams or they just feel out of your reach, it’s time to quit struggling and “put the readers on”. In other words, ask for assistance. Get the tools and support you need from a coach or mentor who can help you clearly see what’s blocking your vision for your future and guide you to refocus on achieving success. Once you get clarity about what your true vision is right now for your life, you can create a plan to put actionable steps into place and eliminate distractions to stay focused on accomplishing the necessary tasks to move you forward each and every day. Trust me; when you quiet your ego and “put on the readers”, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. 😊
