Masterful Mindsets – Scars In My Soul
Have you allowed the scars of your past to haunt you and hold you back from living full out in your life? Or do you see the beauty and strength that can be found in those scars as reminders of an intense life?
It’s Memorial Day here in the US. A time to honor those who’ve lost their lives while serving our country in the military. But it has also become a time when we honor all who have passed on before us. For me that brings to mind one of the biggest scars in my soul.
I’ve been through some things in my life that most would see as difficult and heartbreaking experiences. Of course nothing as tragic or horrific as what those who serve in the military might experience or that someone who has grown up in an abusive home might know. But none the less, losing my mother at age seven and then later in life, spending eight years struggling with infertility are among the scars in my soul that immediately come to mind as the deepest, most intense for me. But believe it or not, I’ve found a way to not only make peace with those scars but to actually love them for the person they have helped me become.
I fully believe I would not be living the life I have right now had it not been for them, and many other such scars from my past. They are the patchwork fabric that have made me the coach, the lover, the mother, the friend and so much more, that I am proud to be. True, the scars in my soul are part of what make me the strong woman that I am today. But it is my mindset and my will that have done the rest.
My challenge to you is to take some time to be in gratitude for the experiences – both good and bad that you’ve had in your life. May you know that each and every mark on your soul is part of what has made you who you are, but it does not have to control who you are or who you become. That my friend is up to you…
Find beauty and peace in knowing that you survived the experiences that created the scars in your soul and are stronger because of them. And meet each new experience with passion and desire so that you may live an intense life.
