Surround Yourself with Greatness

"Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself."

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, that you are like the five people you surround yourself with most. So think for a minute about who you spend the majority of your time with… are they people who encourage and empower you or do you spend most of your time around negative people who would rather pull you down to their level than hold your hand as you rise to greatness together?

I realize that sometimes you don't have a choice. You may work with toxic people. Their negativity can bite you without warning and start to flow through you like gangrene. Creeping through your body and killing off the parts of you that contain your hopes and dreams. You may also have family members or people in your current social circle, like this. They are negative, non-supportive of your dreams or downright mean, judgmental and unaccepting of who you are.

But the thing is, no matter where you come from or who is in your life by necessity... there are plenty of people that you can put in your life by choice. And that is so very important to remember. You can choose who you let into your inner circle. And you can balance out the negative people you must be around with positive people you choose to be around.

Even if sometimes you don’t have a choice about who you are around physically, you always have a choice about who you let into your life on an emotional and spiritual level. Put on a shield of armor when you're around the small, negative people. Be cautions around them. You don't have to invite them into your thoughts, your heart or your soul. Instead, surround yourself with people that will encourage you to dream. People who not only believe that you can become great but believe that they can too. These are people who lead by example. They are standing at the top and extending their hand to help pull you up.

So again, take a good close look at who you spend your time with. If they are not people you want to be like, then it's time to make some changes. Choose your tribe… find them and love them. These are the people you want to surround yourself with. The people that you can be yourself with. The people who will always see the greatness in you, even when you don’t see it in yourself. The people who will support and encourage you to become your best. While at the same time, love you for who you are.

Create relationships with people that will encourage and inspire you. Do you know someone that you'd like to spend more time with because you believe they would empower you to be your best? Invite them out for coffee. Learn from them. Do you know of a group or organization that has a mission you believe in? Join it. Get involved and contribute. Do you feel alone in this quest to find your tribe? You are not and yet; you are also probably not the only one who feels this way. Seek and lead others.

With the power of technology via zoom calls, meetups, social media platforms, etc., you can connect with people all over the world that have the same desire to be positive and achieve their dreams. People who will encourage and inspire you. People who will see your greatness, and support you in being your best true you. Your tribe is out there. Find them and love them hard.
