We just celebrated Independence Day here in the US and with it the reminder of our freedom. So, in honor of the holiday, I thought I’d focus on this concept of freedom. And perhaps help you shed some light on what it is that might be keeping you from having a sense of freedom in your own life at times.
We’ve all had things in our lives that weigh us down or make us feel trapped. And it can be difficult to see a way out when you are feeling stuck. But there is always a way to create a better sense of fulfillment and freedom in your life! It may not always be easy. And often people would rather stay stuck where they are, than make the effort to change themselves or their situations, but if you are someone that is tired of feeling caged in certain areas of your life, then please know, it is possible to achieve a sense of freedom. However, you must first decide you are willing to commit to making a change, even if it seems difficult or feels hard. I’m guessing what you may be experiencing now seems hard too. Right? So, choose your hard! Then step up to the challenge of taking the first step to freedom and independence from what is ruling over your life.
Let’s begin by checking in on your level of freedom and gain some clarity about what might be keeping you from feeling more of it. Examine your life and think about anything that you feel is holding you captive from living the life you desire. (Note: It could be external, like a job, person, or situation. Or it could be internal like your mindset or fear.) Then answer the following questions:
Once you’ve identified what might be causing you to feel stuck or caged, then it’s time to decipher what personal freedom would really look like for you. Because it’s easy to get so focused on what’s holding you captive that you stop looking for a way out or even dreaming of what that might be. So, let’s get clear on that right now:
Okay, now that you have your vision of personal freedom clear in your mind, it’s time to write your own Declaration of Independence or Personal Freedom and sign it this week to signify the beginning of your commitment to freeing yourself from whatever has been ruling over you in a negative way. Write it and put it somewhere that you can see it. Each morning, read it and recommit to it. Then go out every single day, with great determination and take another step towards your freedom.
The power of this commitment is BIG! It's time to claim your own independence from the things that are holding you captive and ruling your life. You do have a choice! Choose boldly and claim your freedom!
