Clarity & Focus – Part 2: Clean the Muck Off Your Lens

“Don’t call the world dirty because you forgot to clean your glasses.” ~ Aaron Hill

Last week, I shared how clarity and focus make everything in life easier — kind of like putting on your glasses after pretending you don’t need them (guilty!). But this week, I want to take that idea a little deeper.
Because sometimes, even when we do have our “glasses” on — even when we think we’re doing all the right things — life can still feel a little foggy.

When the Lens Is the Problem
Not long ago, I was trying to focus on a project, and everything felt… off. I had my glasses on, so I thought, What the heck? Maybe my eyesight was getting worse? Maybe I needed stronger lenses?
Then I took them off and realized the real issue — they were filthy. Covered in fingerprints, smudges, and life’s little muck. I laughed out loud because it was such a perfect metaphor. Once I cleaned them, everything came back into focus — crisp, clear, effortless again. And it hit me: the same thing happens in life.

When O...

Forget Resolutions - Set Goals That Actually Stick

“Resolutions require only words. Results take actions.” ~ Tony Robbins

Every January, the air buzzes with talk about resolutions. You see it everywhere - people declaring bold new intentions to change their lives, only for that excitement to fade by mid-February.

Maybe you’ve even written a few resolutions yourself this year. And that’s great — truly. But before you set your heart on this being the year it finally sticks, let’s look at why most resolutions fizzle out… and what you can do differently to make this year your most successful yet.

Resolutions vs. Goals
People often use these words interchangeably, but they’re not the same. Understanding the difference is the key to real, lasting change.

Resolutions tend to be:

  • Broad and vague (“I want to get healthy.”)
  • Open-ended, with no clear finish line.

Goals are:

  • Specific and measurable (“I’ll lose 10 pounds in six weeks.”)
  • Action-driven, with clear steps and a timeline.

See the distinction? Resolutions sound inspirin...

How Are Your Battles Defining You?

"Our character isn't defined by the battles we win or lose, but by the battles we dare to fight."  ~ Robert Beatty

What battles are you fighting in your life right now? Are you still fighting old battles from the past? Fighting with others? Or fighting an internal battle?

We all have battles we fight in our lives. Some are external - with other people. For example, a power struggle at work or a court battle with a spouse, over a divorce. (Even holding a grudge over a fight between siblings from the past can stir up new battles every time you interact with each other.)

Some battles are not of our choosing - the battle for your life when facing a life threatening disease like cancer or maybe having to battle back from an injury, after having an accident. Sure we can choose whether or not to fight them. But we don't necessarily choose them to be in our lives.

And then of course, there are the internal battles we fight. The battles with our ego and our self limiting beliefs ove...

Declare Freedom from What's Ruling Your Life

“If you dare declare that you are free, free you are this moment. If you say you are bound, bound you will remain.” ~Swami Vivekananda

We just celebrated Independence Day here in the US and with it the reminder of our freedom. So, in honor of the holiday, I thought I’d focus on this concept of freedom. And perhaps help you shed some light on what it is that might be keeping you from having a sense of freedom in your own life at times.

We’ve all had things in our lives that weigh us down or make us feel trapped. And it can be difficult to see a way out when you are feeling stuck. But there is always a way to create a better sense of fulfillment and freedom in your life! It may not always be easy. And often people would rather stay stuck where they are, than make the effort to change themselves or their situations, but if you are someone that is tired of feeling caged in certain areas of your life, then please know, it is possible to achieve a sense of freedom. However, you must f...

Create Your Ideal Future In 10 Minutes A Day

“Whatever goal you give to your subconscious mind, it will work night and day to achieve it.”  ~Jack Canfield

Last week I challenged you to begin the practice of visualization to be able to clearly create your future identity because without having a clear vision for your future, it can be difficult to create it. Did you give it a try? What? You forgot. It was hard to start. You got busy. You just didn’t have time. Hmmm…

Sure, I’ve heard all those reasons (aka excuses)😉 before.

But what if I told you that research shows, you can dramatically increase your odds of creating your ideal future by practicing visualization in as little as 10 minutes a day? Do you have 10 minutes to spare for the sake of making your dreams a reality?

That’s right… While in order to get the best results, it is vital to be consistent with a daily visualization practice, you don’t need to spend all day thinking about your goals for visualization to be effective. In fact, I don’t actually recommend spen...

Creating Your Future Identity

“A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown.” ~ Denis Waitley

People often say they want a different life, but they can’t really picture themselves living it. Or they say they want to be a different person, but they can’t truly visualize themselves being that person. As a matter of fact, they can’t see themselves anywhere but where they are right now or where they’ve come from.

What about you? Can you picture your future identity and your future life? Can you see past where you are right now or what you know from your past, to truly envision and create the dreams of your future?

Not being able to visualize your future identity can be one of the biggest factors to why you might not be moving forward in your life and why you’ll struggle or fail to get to where you want to be or who you want to be. But don’t worry, there is a way to move past this roadblock to yo...

Beauty From The Inside Out

"To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are."  ~Ellen DeGeneres

I saw a post on social media one day about a 60 year old swimsuit model. I found her so inspiring because she was changing the standard definition of beauty by who she was showing up as - not necessarily by how she looked physically but by her inner radiance. It was obvious that she was comfortable in her own skin and that’s not easy to do… especially with the inner critic always chattering in your head. Reminding you of all the ways you aren’t good enough - repeating the self-limiting beliefs that you learned early on in your life and have continued to believe.

Regardless of how you look on the outside – it’s who you are on the inside that truly determines your beauty. But here’s the kicker – who you believe yourself to be is who you will be. Which is why it is so very important to see your inner beauty, be comfortable in your own skin and let it shine out...

Clear the Clutter – Spring Clean Your Space (Part 2)

“When we throw out the physical clutter, we clear our minds. When we throw out the mental clutter, we clear our souls.”  ~ Gail Blanke

I’m hopeful that last week’s article inspired and motivated you to do a little spring cleaning and remove some of the old, unwanted items you’ve been hanging on to for way too long. I don’t know about you but for me, clearing out the clutter feels so freeing. Not only is the physical space lighter but so is my mental space. I swear I’m able to think more clearly and creatively when my space is free of clutter.

As a matter of fact, that feeling is so important to me that I actually clear off my desk every night before I leave my office because I want to start my next day fresh, empowered and full of inspiring energy. Clearing the clutter does that for me!

But do you know what else can leave you feeling light and free? Getting rid of the old unwanted mental clutter that you’ve been hanging on to for way too long. Yep, that’s right…

Spring cleaning isn...

Create Your Own Luck

"I’m a great believer in luck, I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.”   ~ Thomas Jefferson

What are your beliefs around luck? Do you believe that having good luck is out of your control and only the lucky ones can really have a life they love? Or do you believe that you are in complete control and that your beliefs, attitude, and actions determine the kind of luck you have?

My daughters were both highly competitive athletes. For years you could usually find me at a field or court, watching them play soccer or basketball, year around. As a matter of fact, my youngest daughter is in her first year playing college soccer, so I am still at games all the time.

And like most parents, I would always have a few pre-game words for them that almost always include these three phrases, “Play Hard! Have Fun! And Good Luck!”

So with St. Patrick’s Day being earlier this week, I thought it would be fun to discuss the concept of “luck” for this week’s Masterful Mindset. I mean, what ...

I Love You So Much It Hurts

“I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.” - Mother Teresa

I’ve been a bit nostalgic lately for some reason, revisiting many relics from my childhood. First, telling you about the book, “Love Is” and now, I want to share another memory…

I had a little plastic figurine, that had a sickly-looking person on it with the caption that read, “I love you so much it hurts.” Truth be known, I think it belonged to my big brother or sister and they probably got it from a high school sweetheart, but none the less, for some reason, I really liked that little figurine. It was meant to be funny, whimsical, and cute. (Which it was!) And although I didn’t understand that feeling then, I have to say that in my lifetime, I’ve actually experienced that feeling on many occasions...

With my husband, when I’m away from him. With my girls, when I watch every bittersweet moment of their growth into independent young women. With my father and my be...
