âThe moment you say to yourself, âIt is time to let go; it is time to forgive.â that will be the moment you will find peace.â ~unknown
The holiday season is over, and the new year is upon us. For many, that is a relief because although the holidays are meant to be a time for love, hope, peace, joy and togetherness, thatâs not the case for everyone. Especially if youâve spent a holiday with someone difficult whoâs hurt you and left your heart clouded by pain or has you feeling angry from a disagreement. But the reality is, if you want to find your peace again, youâve got to let go and forgive â not for the other person, but for you.
The beginning of the year is a great time to let go of things you no longer feel you need to carry. So as we welcome the new year, why not start it with a clean slate and a peaceful heart?
Take some quiet time this week and search your heart for any past pain or anger towards someone (even if that someone is yourself) that you might be hanging on to. ...
âAt the end of our lives we all ask, Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?â Â ~ Brendon Burchard
Every year on my birthday, I like to take time to reflect on my life. Honestly, some years I spend the entire month in reflection. Itâs a fun way to celebrate and be grateful while also seeking ways to make the next year even better. And this year is no different. However, some years, I have had the opportunity to spend it with one of my mentors, Brendon Burchard and a group of fellow Certified High-Performance Coachesâ˘.
We get together every year for training and some years it happens to fall around my birthday. We are able to be in a room together sharing love, wisdom, energy and an intense passion for helping people live their best lives. (Itâs a training but it also feels a bit like a celebration!)
Anyway, as I sat to journal on the questions that I might want to ponder for my birthday self-reflection, I found that something Brendon always talks about kept coming up for meâŚ

âMy mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.â ~Maya Angelou
By now most schools are back in session and autumn is starting to whisper, âIâm on my wayâŚâ So as the smell of sunscreen is being overtaken by the scent of pumpkin spice, so too are our carefree feelings being overtaken by a sense of overwhelming tension.
This year being an election year there is a special weight coming with the changing of the seasons. I donât think I need to tell you that the weight of all the âheavinessâ our world and nation has faced over the last nearly 10 years, it can be a lot for many people to manage on their own. Â
Combine all these emotions with the usual feelings that most people face as the last quarter of the year comes tumbling in and itâs no surprise that so many people are feeling a crushing sense of exhaustion, hopelessness, and negativity. I mean, arenât we supposed to be starting new and fres...
âLife is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you.â Â ~John C. Maxwell
Have you seen those quick quizzes on social media? (If you follow me on Instagram, youâve probably seen them on my story periodically.) They list a bunch of things and then ask you if youâd choose this or that. Itâs usually something fun and cute like âCoffee or Teaâ, âMountains or Beachâ â but what if there was a this or that quiz that required you to dig a little deeper for the answers?
Over the last few weeks, Iâve been asking you to choose between Courage or Comfort, Hope or Fear, and Stuck or Striving. Howâs that for a this or that quiz? When you really think about the choices you are making in your life, do you like what you are choosing? I get it, itâs not as fun as choosing âCake or Pieâ but its choices like these that can truly transform your life.
So, let me ask you, what choices have you been making lately that are dictating the outcomes of your life? And maybe more importantly, are ...
âHope and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Invite one to stay.â ~Â Maya Angelou
In my last Masterful Mindset, I wrote about choosing courage over comfort. So now, I want to focus on another choice we have. This is the choice between hope and fear. So before you read on, ask yourself, if hope or fear is dictating the path youâre taking to your future? Which one do you want guiding you into the next chapter of your life?
With each passing year, both of my daughters consistently and joyfully embark on new chapters in their lives. (This year, my oldest will be graduating college and my youngest will be leaving for college) at I want for them but at the same time, letting them go⌠not so easy.
I have such great hope for their futures. And yet, if Iâm not careful, I can easily find myself overcome with fear about their futures too. The uncertainty, the risks, the fact that I truly cannot be there to protect them every step of the way nor am I in control of everything...
âThe first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you arenât going to stay stuck where you are.â ~Unknown
I often work with people who come to me because they feel very stuck in their lives. They either feel they have no choice about changing their current circumstances or they feel that despite their actions, nothing is changing.
Can you relate to either of these scenarios?
My guess is, that you can! Why? Well because at some point or another, I think we can ALL relate to feeling stuck. But the good news is, there is a way you can move from feeling stuck to striving!Â
So first, the simple truth of feeling you have no choice is this⌠you ALWAYS have a choice. Even if it doesnât feel that way. Now I get it, sometimes you might feel stuck because the choice is hard. Or maybe you have made a choice to stay stuck because the benefit in some way, outweighed the consequences. Or staying stuck where you were felt âless hardâ than striving to make a change.
No one can judge ...
âHappiness is a habit. Cultivate it.â ~ Elbert Hubbard
Last week I shared with you that happiness is a choice and I challenged you to be the sunshine for yourself and others. This week I want to share a few simple ideas with you on how to cultivate more happiness in your life on a regular basis so you can in fact choose happiness and be the sunshine! Letâs goâŚ
Guard Your Energy â Being around negative people who are unhappy with their current circumstances and unwilling to empower themselves with hope and hard work to create a better future, can be a real energy suck and emotional drain. Guarding yourself from that negative energy will help you keep your soul fire burning. Ever heard someone called a âwet blanketâ itâs a term used to describe someone who spoils other peopleâs fun. So, you can see how theyâd easily put out your fire. And how can you be the light that shines for others if youâre around people who are always putting out your fire?
Generate Joy â Just as negative en...
âWhen you canât find the sunshine, be the sunshine.â
AÂ dear friend of mine recently posted a picture of her home with bright rays of sunshine beaming down. Her caption read,
âIn these hard times, donât forget to shine your light friends.âÂ
It reminded me of a post I did years ago, which still rings true today. So, I thought Iâd pull one from the archives and share it with you this week. Enjoy⌠and most importantly, be the sunshine! Â

âIf you dare declare that you are free, free you are this moment. If you say you are bound, bound you will remain.â ~Swami Vivekananda
We just celebrated Independence Day here in the US and with it the reminder of our freedom. So, in honor of the holiday, I thought Iâd focus on this concept of freedom. And perhaps help you shed some light on what it is that might be keeping you from having a sense of freedom in your own life at times.
Weâve all had things in our lives that weigh us down or make us feel trapped. And it can be difficult to see a way out when you are feeling stuck. But there is always a way to create a better sense of fulfillment and freedom in your life! It may not always be easy. And often people would rather stay stuck where they are, than make the effort to change themselves or their situations, but if you are someone that is tired of feeling caged in certain areas of your life, then please know, it is possible to achieve a sense of freedom. However, you must f...
