âFlourishing goes beyond happiness, or satisfaction with life. True, people who flourish are happy. But thatâs not the half of it. Beyond feeling good, theyâre also doing good-adding value to the world.â ~ Barbara Fredrickson
At the end of each year, I love to reflect on my life and journal on how well I feel I met my goals and how Iâve grown. One of my go-to exercises is to reflect on three questions that one of my mentors, Brendon Burchard always asks, "Did I Live? Did I Love? Did I Matter?"
But then, from there, I like to move from reflection of the past year to asking a few questions of myself in a future focused manner. And this is where I embraced the ideas from another mentor of mine, Brian Johnson.
Brian is the founder and CEO of Heroic Public Benefit Company and a role model in terms of how he lives his life. Iâve had the opportunity to spend time with Brian, his wife Alexandra, his right-hand man Michael, and many other amazing Heroic heroes in the past few years.

When you choose joy, you feel good and
When you feel good, you do good and
When you do good it reminds others of
what joy feels like, and it just might inspire
them to do the same.
We are all in full holiday mode â no matter what holiday it is that you celebrate - so today I want to share with you how to have a happy holiday. And how to survive the holidays in a positive way using five high performance (holiday) tips to help you bring the joy into your own life and to others.
Clarity - Be clear about what is most important to you this holiday season. And set your intention for how you want to show up. (i.e. bringing happiness and joy to others, being charitable, kind, etc.) Itâs easy to be stressed out, overwhelmed, grumpy or angry during the holidays. But make a choice to get clear about how you want your holidays to be and how you want to show up this holiday season and then remind yourself of the words/intentions you choose throughout the holiday season so that you are showing...
"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the energy you bring to every moment." ~ unknown
There are different types of energy that impact our lives, both individually and collectively. And in our fast-paced, demanding world, being able to maintain optimal levels of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energy is not just a luxury; it's an absolute necessity.
So, this week, weâll jump into the basics of each dimension and delve into a few ideas for how to amplify these energies so you can harness their collective power and propel yourself towards greater levels of performance and success. Â
Physical Energy: Physical energy forms the foundation of our being, enabling us to tackle challenges and accomplish our goals. To reach peak performance, prioritize the following:
"Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort." ~Paul J. Meyer
Over the last several weeks Iâve shared with you that productivity is a key component to success so today, letâs review and get you ready to win!
Your level of productivity and success can be directly affected by your level of clarity, your level of energy and your level of courage.
Clarity - Setting yourself up for success when it comes to productivity starts with making sure you have a clear vision for what your goals and dreams are. Knowing what you want and why you want it. The deeper connection you have to why you want it, the more it will help you stay motivated.
Then preparing and creating a clear plan is extremely helpful for keeping yourself on track. Make sure you have a timeline for completion of the project as well as the tasks/actions necessary to move you in the direction you want to go to get you to the goal. (Note: ...
âYou always have two choices: your commitment versus your fear.â ~ Sammy Davis, Jr.
You commit to a project or goal⌠maybe youâre excited about it or maybe itâs just one of those must do kind of things. Either way, as you get started, you feel something shift inside. Fear starts to creep in. Can I do this? Do I know what Iâm doing? Am I good enough? And suddenly, every little excuse and distraction seems to work to keep you from making progress. You no longer know what your next action should be. You arenât even clear anymore on the goal or how to get there. You procrastinate and youâre tired even thinking about it⌠Sound familiar?
Over the last few weeks, Iâve shared that if you want to be highly productive, itâs important to have clarity about what your goal is plus the plan for reaching it. As well as how important your mental and physical energy are to being productive. But if you donât have courage to get going and to keep going when doubt, fear and failure get in your way ...
âWithout gas in your car, it doesnât matter if you know where youâre going. You wonât reach your destination. Likewise, without mental and physical energy, you probably wonât reach your goals either.â ~MW
Letâs face it, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. But some people manage to get so much more done than others. You look at them and wonder how they do it. Or more specifically, you may wonder how they have the energy to do it all!
See the reality is, often itâs not that we need more time to get things done but rather, more energy.
Do you have enough energy to get everything you want accomplished each day or do you find that you are so tired by mid-day that itâs hard to focus and finish the day strong? Â
The best laid plans will not come to fruition if you donât have the mental and physical energy needed to take action toward achieving them. Thatâs why high levels of energy are a key element to high levels of productivity and success.
So if you find that you often lose st...
âEach minute is a little thing, and yet, with respect to our personal productivity, to manage the minute is the secret of success.â ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin
How successful you are, can often be equated to how productive you are. It certainly isnât the only factor to success. But letâs be real here⌠if you arenât productive, you probably arenât going to get far in your quest for success and youâre definitely not going to get there very fast. Of course, itâs important to remember that just being busy, marking things off a to-do list, isnât enough.
The tasks and actions you choose to focus on need to be in alignment with your ultimate goals in order for that productivity to really be of value. Anything otherwise, is just a distraction or detour from your true path to your desired life.
Sadly though, most people struggle with consistent, high levels of productivity. (And remember if we are making the parallel here that means they are likely struggling to have consistent, high levels of ...
âHappiness is a habit. Cultivate it.â ~ Elbert Hubbard
Last week I shared with you that happiness is a choice and I challenged you to be the sunshine for yourself and others. This week I want to share a few simple ideas with you on how to cultivate more happiness in your life on a regular basis so you can in fact choose happiness and be the sunshine! Letâs goâŚ
Guard Your Energy â Being around negative people who are unhappy with their current circumstances and unwilling to empower themselves with hope and hard work to create a better future, can be a real energy suck and emotional drain. Guarding yourself from that negative energy will help you keep your soul fire burning. Ever heard someone called a âwet blanketâ itâs a term used to describe someone who spoils other peopleâs fun. So, you can see how theyâd easily put out your fire. And how can you be the light that shines for others if youâre around people who are always putting out your fire?
Generate Joy â Just as negative en...
âThrough discipline comes freedom.â Â ~ Aristotle
Summertime is the perfect time for taking vacations. And having free time is important to your overall well-being and happiness. I take a lot of time off in the summer with my family. But the one thing I know is that if Iâm not disciplined enough to get my work done, itâs not only hard to get away but also hard to enjoy my time off, knowing that I have pressing projects or to-doâs hanging over my head. Not to mention the fact that if I donât have discipline in getting things done, I will never achieve or be successful with anything. As Jim Rohn says, âDiscipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.â
Thatâs why this weekâs quote, although so simple, is so very profound. It has been a complete game changer for me. Although, I will admit that when I first heard the concept that discipline equals freedom, I had a twinge of dislike because the stigma of the word discipline caught my attention first. Discipline in general tend...
âAs I unclutter my life, I free myself to answer the callings of my soul.â ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Spring is well in bloom here and before we know it, summer will be shining down on us. This past weekend, having been Motherâs Day, I was able to get my family to do something that probably wouldnât have happened had they not been wanting to do something nice for me. đ
See every year for Motherâs Day, they ask me what they can do for me. They know that my Love Language is âActs of Serviceâ. So this year, I told them I wanted the storage room clean. Oh, the groans! But they were accommodating nonetheless.
What I donât think they realized was just how important that was to me⌠And why clearing the clutter is important for you too!
Here's the deal, clutter really bothers me because when you allow too much clutter to fill up a space it can actually cause you to become distracted, lose focus and become less productive. Not to mention the negative energy that piles of clutter can create. So, i...
