"You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand." - Irene C. Kassorla
Everyone has a story. For some it might feel like a mystery, a fairy tale, a drama, a love story, fiction, or fact. But perhaps what's most important...Is it holding you back?
I repeatedly hear "stories" from people about why they are like they are and why it has kept them stuck. They refer to all this as the "reasons" why they are stuck or struggling, why they haven't made changes or havenāt succeeded at their lifeās dreams. But basically, what they really are - are the excuses that they've become comfortable with so that they don't have to step out of theirĀ comfort zoneĀ and change.
So I ask you, do you often find yourself saying things like:Ā
"Oh that's just the way I am.āĀ Ā
"That's how I was raised."Ā
"My parents were this way, therefore, I'm..."Ā
Do you find yourself launching into a big "story" when something doesn't work out ...
āGratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.ā Ā ~unknown
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the US, so of course I canāt miss an opportunity to talk about the power of gratitude...
Research has shown that practicing gratitude regularly has a positive impact on not only your happiness and sense of well-being, but it actually has a positive effect on your health too. Thatās pretty amazing for something that doesnāt require anything more than some effort. No magic pill, no money needed, just a commitment to pause every day, be present and choose gratitude.
Which is why I started a gratitude practice for myself years ago where each day I journal about what I am grateful for. And I truly believe that as a result of keeping this simple practice going throughout the years, itās transformed me into a more positive and hopeful person on the inside and itās made me into ...

Last week I shared several big tips for organizing your time for maximum efficiency and I got a lot of response from subscribers and followers about them because I think it definitely hits a sensitive spot with so many people who are feeling overwhelmed and over-extended.
So, for the next few weeks I thought Iād respond to some of your inquiries by breaking down the concepts more specifically, starting with the one that I got the most inquiries about⦠which is how to create a positive morning routine. Iāll be addressing the following questions from readers:
What does a good morning routine look like? - Do you have to do it every morning? - If you donāt have enough time as it is, how can you add a morning routine? - What is your morning routine?
First let me say that thereās no one size fits all routine. Each individual is different so your lifestyle and your...
āIt is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.ā ~David Steindl-Rast
Last week I gave you an interesting statistic on the power of gratitude⦠I shared that people who have a gratitude practice of writing down at least 5 things they are grateful for once a week can boostĀ their happiness by as much as 25% in as little as 10 weeks. Which is a compelling statistic in and of itself. But today I want to share a few more facts with you about the power of gratitude. (Just in case a 25% increase in happiness isnāt enough to convince you that itās worth it to have a gratitude practice.) š Ā
So Robert Emmons, who is one of the worldās leading researchers on the science of gratitude along with his colleague Mike McCollough were the first researchers to discover the profound benefits of gratitude through their studies.
What they found was that people who regularly cultivate gratitude āexperience a multitude of psychological, physical, interpersonal, and spiritual...

Ever worry about the future? I know, dumb question, right? I donāt know anyone who at some point or another⦠sometimes or maybe always⦠worries about the future. It happens. So, I want to tell you about an experience I had recently in hopes that it might serve as a reminder to you that you donāt have to be afraid of the future.
See, Iāve been losing sleep lately. Yes, maybe itās my unruly midlife hormones fluctuating up and down but on top of that, itās the worry and fear Iāve been feeling for the future. Now donāt get me wrong, Iāve also been feeling a great deal of excitement for the future. Our family is on the cusp of some big transitions....
